Is Japan Kusatsu Bathroom Air Controller made in Japan? How long it has been manufactured?
Japan Kusatsu Bathroom Air Controller 1st model was manufactured and sell in Japan in 1986. The current 4th model KBF-231SHAH was imported from Japan. For more information on the manufacturer and product, please visit the links below:

Is exhaust fan needed after installing the controller? Is the exhaust power enough?
Kusatsu Bathroom Air Controller has air exhausting function to replace exhaust fan, with exhausting ability of 180-200 cubic per hour. The use of louver door will greatly improve the air flow inside the bathroom, making better performance in drying,cool and air exchange functions(exhaust fan can be remained if needed).

Will the cool and air-exchange function consume more power than ordinary ventilation fan?

Will the cool and air-exchange function consume more power than ordinary ventilation fan?
The air exchange function consumes 26-30W per hour, which is similar to ordinary ventilation fan. For cool function, it consumes 50-56W per hour, which is similar to ordinary fan.
Is cool function an air conditioning?

Is cool function an air conditioning?
Cool function is not an air conditioning, instead it makes the air circulate and exhaust in the bathroom, meanwhile removing the humid and hot air. Both cycle and ventilation motor operate at the same time, balancing the temperature and humility, which performs better than exhaust fan alone. (Air inflow at 180-200 cubic meter per hour, air outflow at 150-160 cubic meter per hour)

Is warm function effective enough for the winter condition in Hong Kong?
During winter in Hong Kong, an 50 square feet bathroom can be maintained at around 25-30 degree Celsius. This ensures the user is comfortable while inside the bathroom, but also preventing a large temperature difference between inside and outside, which may lead to various respiratory and heart illness.
Will warm function be overheat?

Will warm function be overheat?
Warm function comes with weak and strong mode to choose from, together with an overheat prevention system. This system will detect the temperature of the product, and if over 60 degree Celsius is detected, it will suspend to operate and leaving only the air ventilation operating.

When temperature is cooled down to 55 degree Celsius or lower, the warm function will resume its operation. Another feature is smart cool down system, in which after stop using the warm or dry mode, the cycle fan keeps operating for about 30 seconds. This makes the heating parts cool down faster, keeping the product in better condition.
Does dry mode need to install drainage duct?

Does dry mode need to install drainage duct?
Drainage duct is not needed. The dry mode heats up the room temperature, making the water on clothes to evaporate faster. The evaporated moisture will be removed by the ventilation fan.
What is the difference between "KUSATSU" Bathroom Air Controller and ordinary dehumidifier?

What is the difference between "KUSATSU" Bathroom Air Controller and ordinary dehumidifier?
Ordinary dehumidifier uses compressor type design which needs to store up the water dehumidified. When the water storage is filled, it will stop to operate and removal of the water is needed.

"KUSATSU" Bathroom Air Controller do not need an water storage, those waters evaporated to moisture and removed to the outdoor.

We provide 3 kinds of installation methods (Ceiling,Window,Wall). Learn more by :

- We can arrange an on-site inspection to assess the actual condition, and provide necessary advise on the feasibility on installing and installation method. A $100 HKD inspection fee will be charged (can be refunded in installation fee), an additional fee will be charged for area which are too remote.

Is there anything to prepare or aware if my home is under renovation?
Home under renovation
- If the bathroom wall tiles needs to be rebuild, you may pre-install an plastic duct hidden inside the wall for the use to hide wires of the control panel. (The wire can be extended by replacing with computer/telephone/CAT5 wire)
- Reserve space for an 13A fuse and a #1299 metal case for installation of the control panel.
Window mounting
- If renewal of aluminium windows is needed, you may take reference in our basic installation requirement on the hole size needed to be reserve.
Ceiling mounting
- If exhaust by window, the window glass needs to reserve an 4.5 inch (diameter) hole for connecting the exhaust duct. For bathrooms without windows, it will be connected to the building central exhaust system.
- Install the controller before installation of the fake ceiling. This can reduce the process to open a hole on the fake ceiling, and better shape fitting of the controller with the fake ceiling.
Wall mounting
- If exhaust by window, the window glass needs to reserve an 4.5 inch (diameter) hole for connecting the exhaust duct.
(For ceiling or wall mounting, if installation of inox wind resistant cover is needed, the window glass needs to reserve 4.5 inch diameter hole to connect with the duct)

Window mounting (aluminium window)
- Removal of current fan, including the swing window and glass.
- Control panel installation together with an white plastic box holder (within 1 meter of the bathroom air controller)
- Installation of the Bathroom Air Controller(410mm闊x300mm高)，兩邊均不大於50mm以上
Ceiling mounting
- Fixing four 6.35 mm screw shaft on ceiling to hold the Bathroom Air Controller
- Providing an 4 inch exhaust duct and exhaust hole installation (within 6 inch)
- Control panel installation together with an white plastic box holder (within 1 meter of the bathroom air controller)
Wall mounting
- Metal case for attaching the Bathroom Air Controller on wall
- Providing an 4 inch exhaust duct and exhaust hole installation (within 6 inch)

How much ampere fuse is needed?

How much ampere fuse is needed?
The maximum power usage of Bathroom Air Controller is 1350W (around 6.5A), an 13A fuse for connection and 10A fuse for main power control panel is enough.
Can the control panel be installed inside the bathrooom?

Can the control panel be installed inside the bathrooom?
It is generally installed in the bathroom. The control panel uses an 12V low voltage and designed to be used in an humid condition, but never split water directly on it.

No, the water vapour is expelled by the Bathroom Air Controller's exhaust hole facing outdoor.

Window mounting comes with an waterproof metal case. If it is installed correctly, rain water will not drip inside. (Install procedure can be viewed by clicking HERE )

How to install by window mounting if my window is too large?
How to install by window mounting if my window is too large?
Window mounting comes with waterproof metal case, and need to use screws and blind rivets to fix the window frame.

If the window hole size exceeded the standard size (410mm X 300mm) for 50mm or above, an tailor made window frame may be necessary to imporve the following:
- Stable and durable - Using blind rivets to fix tailor made window frame to the original window frame, making waterproof metal case more stable (more effective in area with strong wind).
- Waterproof effectiveness - Tailor made window frame installation is more effective in waterproof than other ways of method
- Appearance and usefulness - Tailor made window frame installation can adjust your bathroom air controller to be align at center.
Can small window bathroom choose to install by window mounting?
Can small window bathroom choose to install by window mounting?
- For insufficient height - can be installed by tailor made window frame method. Please PRESS HERE to view demonstration video.
- For slightly insufficient height - needs to be assessed by on-site inspection, please contact us for arrangement or enquiry.
- For insufficient width - product needs to be installed horizontally. If your home is under renovation, enlarging the window width can be considered. Below are relevant cases for your reference:

How "KUSATSU" Bathroom Air Controller makes the bathroom cool and fresh?
Please read with reference of the below demonstration image:
- Air circulation is the key for a cool and refreshing bathroom. This requires 2 air flow hole with effective air flow (includes inflow and outflow). During air exchange, cool and dry function, it expel air and humid out while replace them with air from the corridor through the door crack at bottom. This operation makes the air flow smoothly within the bathroom, keeping your bathroom in refresh state.
- While bathroom is under a very humid and wet condition, wiping out the water vapour on the wall can prevent the attraction of dust to the wall by those vapour, maintaining the cleanlinesses of bathroom.
- While Bathroom Air Controller is not in operation, please open the bathroom door and window to ensure sufficient air flow in bathroom.(As shown in the diagram, the angle of the air inflow and outflow is large, which can make a large air flow area within the bathroom, letting more air to be flowing)

Why does water vapour appears on the wall while dry or warm function is on?
It is normal for water vapour to appear on wall in this situation, as air heat up faster than wall, the temperature of the wall will be relatively lower than the room temperature. When heat water molecules meets with a wall with lower temperature, it will attach on the wall and form as water vapour.
What is 24 hour air exchange function?
What is 24 hour air exchange function?
- 24 hour air exchange function is useful for bathroom without windows or cannot always open windows. This function is operated in weak mode (less power consumption, at around 100 cubic meter per hour), letting a no window bathroom to maintain refresh.
- When 24 hour air exchange signal light is blinking, it indicates the controller is in suspended state. It will resume to operate in this mode once other functions/mode has been finished using.
- To switch off this mode, press the 24 hour air exchange button for 5-7 seconds until the indication light is switched off. You may restart it by pressing the button again.

You may turn on the dry mode to improve this situation. Effectiveness will largely imporve in summer times.
How can I set the operating timer?

How can I set the operating timer?
The default setting for all functions are 3 hours. You may change the timer by simply pressing on the setting button until your desired time appears. The timer ranged from 0.5 to 10 hours (Each mode stores its own timer and latest setting will be saved. All setting will be reset upon power disconnection.)

Press the button under the cleaning indicator for 5 to 7 seconds until it is turned off.

Cleaning tips:
- Power supply to Bathroom Air Controller must be switched off.
- Clean with diluted detergent and dry it after cleaning.
- Do not add any WD40 or lubricants, to avoid damage done to the motor.
- Do not clean any part of the heating system.

You may perform registration to your warrany by the following ways:
- Fill in the warranty card and mail to our company's warranty department (mailing address stated on warranty card)
- Fill in the warranty card and fax to our company.

After the expiry of the warranty, can I extend my warranty?
When your warranty coming to expire, our company would mail you an invitation for extending warranty period card. You may choose to extend your warranty or charge fee per inspection. Please contact us for more details for the charge.
